And the Season’s Change…

And with the changing of the seasons have come a host of changes for us as well.

Family Changes

The most joyous change this season is our little man: Jared Noah! The latest Jankovsky model made his way into the world September 22, at 1:27 in the afternoon. We were overjoyed to have a boy this time…though it was kind of strange to be having a baby that was not Kez. We have all become thoroughly attached to Jared. Keziah loves having her own baby though we have had a bit of trouble keeping her from swiping his binkys.
Jared weighed in at 7lbs. 10oz. and has been gaining fast…we’re speculating how long it will take him to outweigh Keziah, at the rate he’s eating it won’t take long. He has beautiful dark (!?) hair and, of course, blue eyes. We’re pretty proud of him and have enjoyed showing him off to anyone who will stand still long enough.

Internship Changes

Yes, once again our internship has changed…this time we hope we’re on the right track.
Instead of trekking North into the arctic cold of Northern Canada, we will be making our way South and settling on the equator in Nairobi, Kenya. A bit of a change, I know. So instead of coming back with Canadian accents we will return to the states speaking like a bunch of Brits and inviting you all over for tea…and ugali (a corn mush that is a staple in the Kenyan diet – don’t get too excited!).
In Kenya we will be working with an organization called Finish the Task – Afriserve. FTT is a group of Kenyans who have taken on the task of evangelizing the unreached tribes of Africa and the world, following the Biblical model of starting next-door and eventually reaching out to the world.
We’re getting pretty excited at the thought of living somewhere warm…and experiencing Kenya’s culture and people! ☺ We know a few missionary families there already and will be supervised by Dan & Nancy Germo – missionaries to Kenya for 8 years. They have three children, two of whom were born in Nairobi…a very comforting thought for a certain paranoid Momma.

Changes in Budget

Surprise! Surprise! When you switch from Canada to Kenya your budget does funny things…though strangely enough it didn’t change drastically. The process for supporting us is the same but now instead of needing to raise $18,000.00 we need to raise $22,000.00. So far we’ve raised 27%. And we have fast approaching deadlines. Yeah! : )
November 1st – 100% of our set-up costs needs to be in and 75% of our monthly support needs to be pledged.
For those of you who are already supporting us: THANKYOU! You have blessed us in a very personal and sacrificial way for which we are grateful and we pray that God blesses you for it!
So for those of you who have expressed interest in supporting us, now is the time. Because many of you have asked to be kept up to date on this area of our internship we wanted to let you know where we are and quell any confusion as to timing.
Please pray for us financially and if you have felt God leading you to support us…or if you just want to support us, we would appreciate your support. I’ll send reply cards with this or you can just go to our website (www.sethandhannah.com) and go to the Supporting Us page where you can do everything online.
You can support us with a one time gift (goes towards our set-up costs). Or you can support us monthly (goes towards our monthly living costs).

Anyway, please pray for us as we face the transition that all these changes mean…such as the lack of sleep that a baby brings ☺ We are so blessed to know that we are already in your prayers and that you care to know of all the new changes that have come our way.

Anticipating warm weather, fresh fruit, and new friends,
Seth & Hannah, Keziah and little Jared

Changing Times, Changing Paces

Actually, (unfortunately?) the pace is not changing quite yet. We are still here at Bethany. Seth is on his last semester of school and then (hurray!) we have the summer off before setting out to the wild unknowns of internship.

But as for other changes…well, those we have a “plethora” of. We’ve moved (still the same address though different phone number)! The school moved all of the students from three different buildings into one bigger, newer, nicer building. So we now share a three-bedroom apartment with a young couple from Germany (Daniel & Irene Kort). It’s a roomy, sunshiny, cozy little home and we are enjoying it thoroughly. Several times now we’ve had friends and family over for a “Chocolate Fondue”. : )

We’ve graduated!!!!….kind-of. In December I graduated with a Two-Year Certificate of Achievement and Seth (tentatively) graduated with a B.A. We still have one Semester to finish and Internship before we’ve officially completed the program so it was a bit funny to be “graduating”.

INTERNSHIP DECISIONS!!! This is a major (wonderful) change. Though we still have plans to make and paperwork to do, the decision has been made. We will be spending our internship in Pickle Lake, Ontario, Canada. This is a little town (Pop. 350) in CA about as far north as you can go. It is literally the end of the road.
The ministry there is with the first nations tribe…it sounds like it will be a lot of children’s and youth ministry. Some of our friends that have been up there said that its “one of the most beautiful, depressing places” that they’d ever been to – alcoholism is everywhere. You rarely see adults during the days (they’re home sleeping off the hangover from the night before) and the kids spend their days unattended, fighting and abusing one another. It’s definitely a mission field in need of workers.
The missionaries who are there (Ed & Lori Zabel) are Bethany Alumni and we actually met them our freshman year. We’ve enjoyed getting to know them in little bits over email as we make plans, and we’ve been blessed by their obvious love for the people they are ministering to and their eagerness to let us in on the work. We’re praying that the time we spend with there is a blessing to them and encouragement to them.
We keep hearing about the amazing work that the Lord is doing with the Zabel family in Pickle Lake and we are excited to have the chance to maybe get in on some of the action.

The last major change I’ll tell you about here is our newly created website. We really wanted a way for all of our friends and family (that’s you!) to be able to connect with us at their leisure. There’s a photo album so that you can see our beautiful and busy Keziah in action. You can also read about her latest shenanigans in the journals, see what we’ve been up to, and check out our prayer page.
I will warn you: I’m still a beginner when it comes to technology so I can’t promise perfection. : ) But hopefully you’ll be able to get a peek into our lives when you “surf” by.
So, to read about more madness and mayhem in the Jankovsky family go to: www.sethandhannah.com Stop by and check us out!

And for now I must stop. This letter is getting longer and my afternoon (undisturbed time while Keziah naps) is getting shorter.
THANKYOU for caring about us! It is an encouragement to know that we’re in your hearts and minds.
Thrilled to be a family,
Seth & Hannah, and Keziah Hope

P.S. Please pray for us as we continue to make decisions about internship, and as we step into the new phase of raising support. We are trusting the Lord for His leading and provision but at times it is hard not dread this phase of learning…kind of like speech class or gym class.
