Please pray that we get water soon. No don’t worry we are not wasting away in a parched dessert. What I mean is that the water meter has not arrived in our beautiful new flat. Thus we are “jerry canning it” (ie. borrowing water by the jerry can full from our gracious neighbors).
All the paperwork has been done, money paid, ect. And this is where the corrupt government/bereaucracy fits in the picture. Unless you have a lot of weight in the government (money, family, friend of the water meter people) you can end up waiting up to a month for them to simply come out to your flat and hand over the meter.
We’ve had many people tell us to just wait till night, fit in a piece of pipe, fill the tanks, and then take out the pipe. “They’ll never know, hey I can do it for you!”… Which is very tempting at 9:00 at night when a hot, full, bubbly bath sounds wondrous….forget bath just to flush the toilet every time its used would seem like such richness. But we want to live honestly and example Christ in every area. So we’re waiting… : ) God has given us grace to handle this situation but please pray that water comes soon! We don’t want to outwear our welcome at the neighbors and it just would make life a lot easier to have ready water.
Its amazing how much of life requires water…and its amazing how for granted you take it until its not there anymore. I think I am becoming a master water conserver. I wonder how that would look on my resume’. Or on my tombstone: Here lies Hannah Jankovsky; she sure could conserve water. : )
Ok, that was a little morbid but you’ve got to laugh at somethings or you’ll just end up getting very depressed. : )
Thankyou for all your prayers. You’ll never know how much it means to us that we are being held up in prayer; even in the (seemingly) trivial things. And what a Great God we serve to know that He cares about the little things in life.

Please pray for us in this new land. Security in Nairobi is a BIG DEAL. For those who live here it dictates much of how they live and why they do the things they do. Coming from small towns and and relatively secure country this mind-set has been a little disconcerting for Seth and I as we set up life.
From amoebas in the water (keep your mouth closed while showering), to the wildlife (no Keziah you may not play with the snake…yes we are going to kill the snake), mosquitos (malaria or harmless?), to locking your doors at all times to keep out the carjackers/thieves, we often are overwhelmed at the security issues here. We don’t want our experiece here to be one of fear and constant stress. However, we do want to keep a cautious mindset in making the right choices every day.
I don’t think I’ve ever even considered locking the cabinets in my house…for Kenyans it is simply a way of life.
Please pray that we will keep our eyes on Jesus, accept the grace to trust Him completely and that we will be an example of confidence for our kids.
Pray that when (and if) instances of danger come up that our first reaction will not be fear but reliance on the One Who brought us here in the first place and Whose care for us is greater even than our own.
Got to run…we are on our way to a birthday party. Pray that we are able to connect with the Kenyans and relate to them a complete, confident, trust in our Lord.

The end of the year is fast approaching and with it we are looking forward to quite a few changes. As you know we are not going to Pickle Lake but will be making our way instead to Nairobi, Kenya.
SOOOoo, with the drastic change in location we are making drastically different preparations.
Please pray for us as we attempt to get all the necessary immunizations and medications for entry to Africa (hooray) and that we make wise decisions concerning our little munchkins.
Please pray that we figure out what to pack and how to pack it.
Traveling with one child means piles and piles of “necessities”…the amount of gear that two children “need’ is outrageous. Pray that we’re discerning.
Please pray that we are wise with our budgeting and our support-raising. It can be a touchy subject but we really want to make the right decisions as to what we need and how to communicate that to the people that God wants us too. Pray that we continue to rely on the Lord and his faithfulness.
Please pray for Keziah and Jared as they can sense the change that is coming. Pray that we communicate the peace of the Lord to them and that they take the changes well.
And I’ve got to run…Jared is making his hunger known!
Thankyou so much for your prayers…we are counting on you.

With classes ending in May and internship postponed until January our summer/fall is shaping up to be somewhat of a gypsy summer. It has been a bit daunting as we consider housing, work, Baby/insurance, vacation, internship preparations, ect. and what each of these aspects of life will look like during the next 8 1/2 months. Please pray for us to make wise decisions as we attempt to make our plans and pray that we continue to trust the Lord with the details that are out of our hands.
And please pray that in the process of all this change our little family will hold onto the Lord and eachother…especially pray for Keziah that, even though she cannot fully understand the changes, she will continue to feel secure and be able to take the adjustment without a major upset.:smirk:
You could also pray for our little Kez as she wades through “the valley of the shadow of tooth cutting”. She is currently working on ALL of her eye teeth and ALL of her one-year molars…yes, that’s right she is cutting eight teeth all at once. To say that she’s not the happiest little girl right now would be an understatement. You could pray that we all make it through this stage with our sanity…we would greatly appreciate that, as I’m sure everyone else that has to deal with us would as well.

I just got back from dropping off Seth and Tom (my brother) at the airport…They fly into Nevada tonight and tomorrow morning will load up Mom J. and the kids, start up the moving truck and begin the drive back to Minnesota.
They’re hoping to pull into Litchfield, MN (where Mom’s new house will be) on Saturday morning.
Here’s what you can pray for us:
Please pray that the flight and the drive go smoothly for them.
Pray that Seth has a good time with his younger siblings and that the kids enjoy the trip.
Pray that Mom is able to enjoy the trip and process all the change that it brings.
Pray that the unpacking and moving in goes well and nothing gets lost or broken.
Pray for Kez and me as we wait for Our Man to come back home…pray that the time goes quickly.
We’re so excited to have Mom and the kids closer and are looking forward to some great times to come!

Please pray for us!
We’ve been continually searching out possibilities since we got back to school and it seems that all we’ve encountered are bright ideas and then slammed doors!
We just got an email from prospective supervisors in Cambodia (an internship we had figured as a slam dunk) and they won’t be able to take us next year… So we’re back to square one and trying not to be discouraged.
The Lord must have a very specific door for us…pray that we find it soon!

*Please pray for us as we step into this new position at church.
Pray that we will be a blessing to the church.
Pray that we will be able to work together on this.
Pray that this experience will give us more insight into the direction God has for us.
*Please pray for us as we are seriously considering Cambodia for internship. It seems to be an open door so far, so we are walking towards it.
*Please pray for both of our families as both are going through significant adjustments and changes. Pray that every member involved in each situation will keep their eyes on Jesus, and that we will be a blessing to our families in these times.

Please pray for us in the many processes we are in the midst of right now.
The process of grieving the death of Seth’s father.
The process of figuring out our place in taking care of his Mom.
The process of accepting a part-time job as children’s minister at our church.
The process of planning internship.
The process of teaching Keziah to sleep through the night.
We’ll see who gives in first!

Please pray for us as we re-evaluate work/school/ministry/family life. This has been a tough situation lately and we are trying to figure out what would be the wisest approach. Seth currently has several jobs available to him but with the non-negotiables of school (homework, ministry, ect.) keeping up with family time has been a struggle and we are not sure how to fit work into the mix.
To say that life has been crazily busy lately would be an understatement.
Pray that God would help us to think creatively about this issue and that we would be in agreement as to how things should work.
Pray that we would know how and when God would have us go about raising a support base.
Pray that no matter what the end result of this we would trust the Lord for our provision.
Pray that we would use this as an opportunity to grow closer to the Lord and closer to eachother.

Pray for our internship! We’ve been getting a lot of information in the last few days about many different opportunities. Pray that we will know what to pursue and what to let go.
