Going through the process…

Posted in Pray for us! at 3:16 pm by Hannah

Please pray for us in the many processes we are in the midst of right now.

The process of grieving the death of Seth’s father.

The process of figuring out our place in taking care of his Mom.

The process of accepting a part-time job as children’s minister at our church.

The process of planning internship.
The process of teaching Keziah to sleep through the night.emoticonWe’ll see who gives in first!

Mini but Mobile!

The day has finally come when our room is no longer safe from little fingers and a certain curious mouth. Keziah is crawling!emoticon We can hardly believe it as our baby girl goes motoring around the room…the funny thing is that as she crawls around she does make a little sputtering noise - she’s already into the car thing. There’s no question who her Daddy is! She has also learned that she can pull herself up to standing on things (chairs, tables, Momma) and I actually managed to catch her with the camera the other day. She’s getting quite used to cameras - this morning I pulled ours out to get a picture of her and she turned toward me and put on a big smile! Now why wouldn’t she do that when we wen to get her passport photo taken? emoticonSilly girl.

But she’s doing great happy, healthy and full of giggles and kisses.

Seth’s Dad - finishing the race

Posted in Family News... at 1:55 pm by Hannah

As many of you may have heard, Seth’s father George Carl Jankovsky went to be with Jesus on September 3rd. He died peacefully, with his wife nearby. It was not unexpected. Four years ago he was given two weeks and instead battled with illness and infection long enough to officiate the marriages of three of his children and see two grandchildren born.

Over the last month he had been getting weaker as his liver gave out so we knew that soon he would be where he has wanted to be for a long time - with his Savior. Seth’s mother shared at the memorial service that Dad always had to live through what he was going to preach the week beforehand. She said that his last month he was so content - living out the peace that he now has eternally at Jesus feet. He pastored right up to the end, passing on what God had taught him to the people that he loved. He shared what he knew God wanted him to share - and the impact he made was huge.

The memorial service was held in Nevada, at the church he was currently pastoring at. It was truly a tesimony to hear as person after person got up to share what Dad had meant to them and how he had touched their lives. Not only did he bring glory to God in his life but he also brought glory to God in his death.

He will be missed. Dad was a unique and fun person who if you asked him for his opinion he’d give it to you straight and honest. He loved people in an incredible way and took great joy in giving them a reason to laugh (wish you could’ve heard some of the answering machine messages we used to get). What Dad wanted for every person is that they would love Jesus, obey Jesus, and have fun! And he lived his life encouraging those around him to do just that.

He leaves behind an amazing family (what can I say, I am just a little biased). Seth is the oldest of ten children. The two sisters next in line (Katie and Leah) both live here in MN with their husbands. Amy is in college in Wyoming, and the rest of the children (Caleb 17, Rueven 15, Paul 12, Isaiah 10, David 7, and Petra 5) are still at home. They plan on moving up here to MN sometime this year but for now the church is taking care of them as Mom makes plans.

Dad lived an extreme life for Jesus…and though we are sad to see him go we rejoice that he is no longer in pain and that he is where his desire has been for a long time. He lived out the verse in Phillipians "For to me, to live is Christ and to die is gain." Our prayer is that we will follow his example.

Warm summer fun!

Seth is back from his fishing trip! Yeah! He had a good time, caught lots of fish, got rained on and miserably cold, ate junk food, and didn’t have to brush his teeth…..in other words he thoroughly enjoyed himself. They (he and his buddy Jonny) decided that it was strictly a catch-and-release trip so Kez and I didn’t get to see any of the fish but we heard all about them. After two days, however, Seth was very glad to be back home and we were over-joyed to have him.

Today was the traditional Bethany Picnic so Keziah and I followed Seth around and watched him compete in all the team activities - we were the team cheerleader and mascot!emoticon

We thought our man was especially good at the tug-of-war…..come to think of it though he was also amazing at the egg-toss, three-legged-race, and balloon-run. Guess we just got a champion for a husband and daddy.emoticon

After all the activities we chowed down on fresh corn-on-the-cob, hotwings, hamburgers, cookies, and soda….mmmmmm! We also got a bit’o’sun….as evidenced by my pink shoulders.emoticon

Can you tell that I just discovered the emoticons?emoticon

When’s recess?

Please pray for us as we re-evaluate work/school/ministry/family life. This has been a tough situation lately and we are trying to figure out what would be the wisest approach. Seth currently has several jobs available to him but with the non-negotiables of school (homework, ministry, ect.) keeping up with family time has been a struggle and we are not sure how to fit work into the mix. emoticon To say that life has been crazily busy lately would be an understatement.

Pray that God would help us to think creatively about this issue and that we would be in agreement as to how things should work.
Pray that we would know how and when God would have us go about raising a support base.

Pray that no matter what the end result of this we would trust the Lord for our provision.

Pray that we would use this as an opportunity to grow closer to the Lord and closer to eachother.
